Yes, it's true: McDonald's actually tried selling pizza at one point. The McPizza was introduced to the menu in the 1980s. It was a family-sized pizza at the beginning and was later scaled down to personal-size.

The problem was that each pizza took 11 minutes to prepare. That was way too long for the chain's fast service. McDonald's eventually got rid of it pretty much everywhere by 2000.
